Ambareesh Murty, Co-Founder and CEO of Pepperfry, may not hail from a business family, but the Force (of entrepreneurship) is strong with him. In 2012, this self-taught entrepreneur had a brainwave the idea of building a niche market of furniture and furnishings that anybody could access with the click of a button.
A decade later, Ambareesh finds himself in the business of making sure millions of people across the country are able to relax, recline, and rejuvenate in the comfort of their homes.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Ambareesh has set his sights on leading Pepperfry to infinity and beyond and leaving an enduring legacy in every home. He specializes in marketing, sales management and corporate strategy, skills he picked up in a career spanning 14 years in the FMCG, financial services and internet industries. Stints at Cadbury, Prudential ICICI AMC (now ICICI Prudential), Levi Strauss India, Britannia Industries, and eBay served as rich training grounds for Ambareesh. During his tenure with eBay, he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
Ambareesh credits his inclination for building things from scratch to his alma maters, Delhi College of Engineering and Indian Institute of Management. An avid trekker who enjoys the challenge of pushing his mind and body beyond limits, Ambareesh transfers the lessons he learns outdoors to the boardroom.
