India is a treasure trove of incredible talent in the form of craftsmen and artisans, who are yet to be recognized and given their dues. In keeping with the vision of ‘Make In India’, Pepperfry has stepped in to sell thousands of products from MSMEs based out of multiple states across our Furniture & Home categories.
Since 2013, Pepperfry has created an ecosystem in Rajasthan empowering artisans and craftsmen from small towns and villages including Churu, Sardarshahar, Ratangarh, Taranagar to set up successful businesses, thus generating employment and revenue for more than 30,000 families directly and indirectly.
We plan to partner with industry associations and government bodies to create 3-4 furniture hubs by 2025, to specifically promote local furniture and home businesses, and in turn, livelihood for gifted artisans across the country.
Pepperfry has hired 200+ carpenters, offering them certification and training in soft skills and processes. By 2025, we plan to promote subsidized skill development in the states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh through our association with the Furniture & Fitting Skill Council.
Following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, we renewed our focus on the health and well-being of our employees. We have rolled out health and safety guidelines and offered vaccination support to all our staff and families. We also provide term life insurance & health insurance to 100% of our on-roll & contractual staff.
At Pepperfry, we realize that the choices we make today will impact generations to come. We are committed to promoting gender balance across all our supply chain processes.
In fact, we aim to employ 25% female supervisor staff in the top four metros for warehousing operations by the end of 2025. We also plan to work with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to identify skilled people and recruit them in our supply chain business vertical.
At Pepperfry, we have always kept sustainability at the forefront, focusing on contributing towards positively impacting not only the environment through various ongoing initiatives but also empowering the community—both within our workforce as well as at large.

We believe in being transformative leaders. We innovate to create a better tomorrow for all. This brings us to a global issue that affects all of us—managing plastic waste.
Following the universal mantra of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, we have incorporated innovative ways to reduce plastic packaging like the use of furniture blankets during reverse pickup, elimination of thermocol packaging, bringing back packaging from the customers to recycle and reuse, and encouraging our merchants to switch to multi-usage 50+ micron packaging material. By 2025, Pepperfry aims to eliminate single-use plastic packaging by PepCart and our merchants.
Sustainability means creating long-term value for all stakeholders, and that includes the planet. In the last 5 years, we’ve planted over 200,000 trees, and we aim to grow another 400,000 by December 2024.
Sustainability means creating long-term value for all stakeholders, including the planet. In the last five years, we’ve planted over 200,000 trees, and we aim to grow another 400,000 by December 2024. In fact, we’re going a step further and planning to adopt an entire forest in Rajasthan. We are also working towards converting 25% of our owned last-mile delivery vehicles to electric ones. Striving to go green in all our processes, we encourage our merchants to use renewable energy, adopt practices such as rainwater harvesting, and optimize energy consumption through machinery.
In the near future, our plans are targeted towards launching products and categories focused on sustainable and eco-friendly methods.
